Sweet Sweet Medley

Sweet Sweet Medley is a series that depicts the complex and unique qualities that come with having a mixed heritage and culture. Taking inspiration from painterly styles, and using lighting, detailed layering and lensing, these images include fruit, items and patterned subject material that are representative of my Caribbean, Asian and Middle Eastern cultural memory. Whether placed in combination with each other or shot with accompanying props, the photographs are symbolic of such socio-cultural experiences. 

Being blended can be overwhelming, or it can bless you with camouflage. Experiencing the unique moments that come with this is imperative and highly influential to one’s identity and personality. While being an individual of mixed backgrounds can be heavy and dark at times, there is a richness and brightness that comes with embracing one’s cultural identity.
